I was drawn to photography as a child when I was given my first automatic camera aged 9 years. From that day my camera became like an extra limb, I would take my camera to school with me.
I love freezing a moment in time through the lens of my camera. I like to look for the interesting in the ordinary; it seems to sharpen my senses.
Photography to me is a very rewarding and freeing experience although I have so much more to learn as I do it spurs me on. I have seen the changes in my own work at different stages in life. Photography has helped me to overcome my own personal struggles, accept myself as I am and through photographic expression, heal.
I studied Fine Art for a couple of years at college and enjoyed working with many different mediums, but my favourite is the camera. I love the way black and white blends together and the varying shades and tones in the spectrum and looking for texture. Inspiration for my work comes from a range of different vices, an expression, a moment, skin tone & complexion, textures, colour, sound, sensation, memories, hopes, fears.
My passion for photography is a lifelong commitment
I love the form of the body...... the curves and contours, tones and textures.
I work with many other subjects, but the body is one of my favourite.
Photography is a combination of subjective thought, creative imagination, visual design, technical skills and practical organizing ability.
All the importance lies on the subject itself, a diagram of a happening.
It is also a powerful medium of persuasion and propaganda.
A means of personal self-expression......capturing your seeing.......
The camera is a visual notebook giving us power and purpose.
A photograph can intrigue through its posing of questions, keeping the viewer returning to read new things from the image.
